As the office manager and co-owner, James oversees high-level financial reporting, evaluates systems, manages receivables and payables, and addresses staffing needs and critical incidents. Alongside his wife, Dr. Catherine Mentesana, James has set the practice’s goals and mission: to help as many people as possible in their community achieve their best dental health.
James’s creative mind extends far beyond dentistry. He is also the owner and one of the artists at two tattoo shops, where his artistic talents shine. This dual passion allows James to explore creativity in new ways while balancing the structure of business ownership. His entrepreneurial spirit fuels both endeavors, and he takes pride in bringing art and meaning to people’s lives through his tattoo work.
James is a skilled negotiator, an expert with numbers, and an intuitive people-reader. His ability to analyze interactions and build relationships helps ensure that the team is aligned and focused on their shared mission. Whether fostering connections within the practice or with the wider community, James understands that relationships are more valuable than money, and he thrives on finding common ground with others to achieve positive goals.
A passionate community leader, James has received numerous accolades for his contributions. He was the youngest Rotary Club president of his time, earning the prestigious Paul Harris Award. He has served as Master of the Allen Masonic Lodge and as a board member and sponsor for the Foundation for Allen Schools. His work extends to initiatives like the Allen Youth Boxing program, the Shriners Hospital for burned children, and supporting the Allen Americans Hockey Team as a liaison when the practice served as the team dentist.
James approaches his work with an open mind and heart, finding joy in solving problems that create win-win situations. He believes that listening and responding thoughtfully are key to delivering value to both clients and colleagues. Patients can expect him to hold the practice to the highest standards while fostering mutual respect and understanding.
Outside of work, James is a scuba enthusiast, an avid runner, and the organizer of gatherings that bring friends and family together. Known for his gregarious personality and sense of humor, James thrives on building connections and creating memorable experiences.
What inspires him most is providing for his family and wife while spreading positivity and collecting meaningful experiences along the way. And in case you’re wondering about a fun fact, James is the proud owner of a capuchin monkey named Diesel, who adds a dose of excitement to his already vibrant life!
